The West Coast of the South Island is described by Lonely Planet as “one of the 10 most beautiful drives in the world”.
Greymouth is the largest town on the West Coast (population: appr 13,000) and an ideal base to explore the West Coast. Kia Ora Homestay is situated 5km south of Greymouth Centre, less than 8 minutes walk from the beach, and close to Shantytown.
Travel by: Car hire; West Coast Air (flies direct to/from Wellington); and Tranzalpine (the daily train which travels from Christchurch over the mountains to Greymouth).

A courtesy pick up is provided from the station and bus stop. A convenience store, popular pub & restaurant are close by.
Having explored the area extensively, we can guide you to the best sites to make your visit more enjoyable.
Some of the local attractions include country walks, guided tour of Monteiths Brewery, Jade Boulder Gallery and Jade Boulder Walk, Left Bank Art Gallery, History House, golf and the historical mining village of Shantytown. A guided garden trip (6ha) can be arranged and is 3 minutes away by car. And many more...
We are also well placed for regional attractions such as Fox River, Punakaiki, the Croesus track, Blackball, Lake Brunner, Arthurs Pass, Lake Kaniere & the Hokitika gorge, to mention a few. We can help you in the planning of your forward journey.
